The Seventh Rule of Selling
It sounds so simple, doesn’t? If you learn the rules then how can you fail? Yes, but remember, just because you now know the rules, doesn't mean you are a master caster. If you forget any one of these rules when you try to sell something you will then decrease the chances of you having a sale.
Most people think they understand, so here goes.
There’s an old saying, which programmers like me, like to say about cryptography, you can crack the code, but, can you understand the message? You may think you do, that’s almost guaranteed. The question is, are you certain?
Which is it? Come on, come on.
Can you feel the beat? Come on, come on.
The truth is, nobody knows anything that makes sense equallogic.
You can’t open a door, if you don’t turn the key to unlock it. It’s simple logic.
Here’s the test. Now don't cheat. You're only cheating yourself.
I remember one of my friends was a Greek girl called Kiki who was studying for a MBA. One day while on the bus to university I got talking to her about her course, she explained how it was going. I asked her to tell me in a word or sentence what was the most important aspect in business? She thought for a moment, and then went on to rattle off several sentences about this and that. It wasn't meant to be a trick question.
I just wanted to see what Kiki would say. To be fair, I don't think she thought about it for long enough, but don't forget that I'd spent more time thinking about the question than she did. Besides, my question asked for one word or sentence, not a series of sentences.
We can all fall into the trap of not listening and not thinking about what exactly the question asked.
I told her the most important aspect in business, in my opinion, is people; because it doesn't matter how good the product or service you are selling is, it’s the people that make the difference. If you have people that are unhappy and can't communicate, well, then your business is ultimately doomed.
Now, how did you score? Be honest.
It’s not a difficult question to answer, but one where you need to understand fully what the question asked.
Well done, I know you deserve it. Success is a characteristic of effort.
It’s easy to answer a question, but it doesn't mean you know the answer. The whole essence of critical thinking is to come to a decision without the influence of bias and bigotry.
Tomorrow, I will tell you how to put those selling skills into action. Because without action, tomorrow never comes.
There’s an old saying, “Don't put off what needs doing now, because tomorrow may be to "phunking" late.”
Anyhow, it’s just an experiment.
Tomorrow, I will give you the answer. It’s a mystery thriller.
Are you listening, what are you dreaming?
